Back on the campaign trail……

Well, here we are in 2024, appreciate it has been publicly quiet through Christmas and the start of the year, that doesn’t mean we haven’t been busy though. Lets have a quick look at whats going on shall we?

Following on from our session on the 19th December, we have closed out a few of our open actions:

The behind the scenes stuff

We have a signed constitution in place so we can now act as an official steering committee and get our bank account open, this also allows us to progress our fundraising efforts

We have added Alex Hailstones to the committee, more announcements to come on the remaining members in next weeks update.

The bit where we ask you to do stuff (again)

Added a quick feedback questionnaire to the site, this is for us to gather feedback and consultation evidence for our membership application to the Plunkett foundation as well as for our application to the local authority for financial support for the fundraising activities, we will be out and about this weekend doing some good old fashioned clipboarding asking for you to answers a few questions for this very purpose, as we know some of you won’t be in or don’t live in the immediate locale, we will also be plonking a feedback box with some forms in the Wharf as well, naturally you can fill this in online here.

Newsletters

Those of you that got this update via email will also have noticed that you are getting our newsletter, this is a weekly thing that we will send out after our committee meetings (typically Wednesday evenings), if you are reading this on the website or Facebook, then get yourself added via the newsletter subscription form on our the site here, so you can keep up to date on what we are up to.

Engagement

As a pat on the back for all of you that are getting behind us, here are some stats that might make you smile. Since the launch of the save the Wharf on the 6th December we have had the following:

72 individual email enquiries

37 pledges of support

Financial pledges totalling £74,600

All down to you lot, pretty impressive for such a short space of time.

Next up……..

Onwards with getting the business plan in shape so we can move to the next stage of buying the pub with all you lovely people. As always thank you for your continued support, we will see you soon at the next open meeting (will advertise it soon).

Next community meeting 19th December

Hey everyone!

Thanks so much for your outstanding support so far, in terms of pledges and people who simply want to help.

It’s been amazing!

Just a quick update..

We will be hosting another meeting, in the Wharf, on Tuesday 19th, 19.30.

This is a follow up from our first meeting, we would like you to come and join us
while we give updates on progress, next steps and a more detailed view into how this approach will work.

New support pledge form is now live

As mentioned on Tuesday night we have put a form to allow you lovely people to pledge support in the form of skills, time or as an early interest in a share purchase, nothing legally binding and no financial details will be requested, this simply helps us to build a view of whether the support is out there to get us to our goal of purchasing the Wharf and bringing it into the community.

The new form is available from the main menu or you can click here.

Welcome to our new site

Hi there, thanks for stopping by, we are still working on a number of areas on this site (contact forms, FAQs etc.) but please stop by to see how we are getting on, we will also update blog posts with all meetings as they are scheduled.

Give our Facebook page a like as well if you can.

Open meeting 5th December

The Wharf community invites you to join our conversation as we seek to ensure the future of this wonderful pub. Following recent positive discussions, we are now rolling this out to a wider audience.

For those who are interested in the possibility of turning the Wharf into a community-owned pub, we are holding a meeting on Tuesday 5th December, here at The Wharf itself and we hope you’ll join us.

Should you wish to get involved but can not attend, feel free to email us at help@savethewharf.uk or message our Facebook page with your questions/thoughts.
